OUR MISSION
GirlStuff.Period is an initiative of My Arms Wide Open developed alongside the My Business, My Community program. GirlStuff.Period provides reusable menstrual kits to young girls who cannot afford it in Africa. As a result, girls can continue their education and are not subject to bullying in the classroom.
-
We inspire and help young women in Africa.
GirlStuff.Period provides 2,500 girls, every semester, with underwear and re-usable menstrual pads, so they can stay in school, be present when opportunities are presented and become employed after completing school. GirlStuff.Period also employs 10 women full time to make reusable menstrual pads and underwear.
-
With your help, 5000 girls a year will get an education.
GirlStuff.Period increases the education and employment rate for women in Africa. By being educated, women in Africa can then understand health, nutrition, family planning and have the power to take charge of their own life.

This initiative made it possible for me to fulfil my purpose of helping people. With this project we now supplying sanitary pads to girls in schools, more especially the underprivileged ones like me when I was still at school. I had no clue at all of sowing let alone knitting and making clothes, I am now the best employee, I now teach most of the ladies in the community, and I can see us doing more great things in the community. I would like to thank My Arms Wide Open and GirlStuff for giving us the opportunity to help break the cycle of poverty in our community. Thank you once again for your patience and guidance in working with us.

We believe that together, we can poverty for women in Africa.
We identify young girls whose families do not have the resources to support them in their lives generally, as well as their education and health needs. Although there are many children that we bring into the causes we work in, there are many that we ourselves, don’t have the resources to support on our own.

MENSTRUAL PRODUCTS
Uneducated girls remain trapped in a downward cycle of denied rights and poverty throughout their lives. Their families are so poor that they can’t afford underwear or hygiene products. So, when the girls start to menstruate and don’t have underwear or sanitary products, they are ridiculed and bullied by the boys. This crushes their self-esteem and they end up dropping out of school permanently.
